Sam Bauman, the former linebackers coach at the College of Wooster, became the head football coach at Thiel College in February 2022. He was the defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator at Wooster, where his coaching improved the team's win record from two wins to seven wins in 2013. Bauman's defense also ranked in the top 20 in forced fumbles in 2015 and 2021 and 3rd in the country in red zone defense in 2019. He began his coaching career at the University of Chicago and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where he served as the team's linebackers coach, head junior varsity coach, and video coordinator. Bauman received a master's degree in physical education with a concentration in coaching from Indiana State University and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Beloit College.
