Yes, I’m changing:
A very long time ago, I heard the story of a little boy who would jump out of bed everyday and ask his mum eagerly, “Mom, have I grown up?” Despite his mom’s reassurances, he’d look at his toes and hands and feel disappointed that he has not grown overnight, in his sleep. After several months, his grandmother visited him and exclaimed how tall he had grown. He believed his grandma.
Wise ones have always said that destruction and harm is loud and painful but growth and healing is silent. Forest fires are loud and visible, but in a years time, the growth and regeneration is slow and soundness.
So, too within ourselves, we are unconsciously and intangibly unlearning, learning, letting go, melding, integrating life with time, in subtle ways, but the stories in our head do not change, we carry the old story well after we have healed.
So, this journal prompt is about looking within and acknowledging the changes that have built up over time.
