Welcome to the THIS ROAD podcast, a short encouragement for the road your life is currently leading you down.
What do you do when you feel helpless? How do you respond when you just don’t know what to do? Some of us may be feeling this anxiety today. In the midst of these difficult times, we just don’t know what to do. I have made mention to a few friends that there doesn’t seem to be the right answer regarding the pandemic. Do you wait it out? Do you start to treat life as normal again and risk being in the same trouble all over again? See what I mean?
What is the answer?
For people who choose to follow Jesus Christ, the answer is simple: Jesus. Sometimes that can ring hollow, though, can’t it?
First Peter 5:6-11 says this about our dealing with our anxieties and Jesus:
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
When reading this, suddenly the answer being Jesus feels more reassuring. If we can humble ourselves, and cast our cares and anxieties on Christ, he will care for us. And then, as we withstand these trials, the God of all grace will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us.
If we choose to believe that Jesus is the savior of the world, we can know that our fears, worry, anxieties, and stresses can be cast upon Him, and he will restore us.
That is the answer I am looking for.
