We're beginning a series explaining what Jesus meant when He told the two sad believers headed to Emmaus, "everything must be fulfilled that was written about me ..." (Lk 24:44). We're going to look at some of what Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, and Malachi said, and how Jesus fulfills all of it. To do that, we first must step back and ask ourselves "what is the Christian story even about?" Fictional books, movies, and TV shows have plots and stories--they're going somewhere. The Christian story is the true story of reality, and it's going somewhere, too. Where? Is the bible about Jesus, salvation, the cross--or something else? How would you describe the Christian story to somebody who knew nothing about it?
