After his early months of ministry, and after being rejected by his hometown synagogue in Nazareth, Jesus travels to the region of Capernaum and truly begins his ministry. In short order, he gathers his first disciples, heals the sick, casts out demons, and declares that the kingdom of heaven has drawn near. Matthew joyously records this as the fulfillment of prophecy because Gentile lands now see a great light piercing the darkness. This is when Jesus' war against Satan truly begins.
