Description

Born and raised in California, Angel is first generation-Guatemalan. Being young, gay, and a person of color, he had to overcome his fear of being rejected or not being good enough if he chose to embrace all parts of himself, good and bad, and it sure didn’t help when he became a born-again Christian in 2016. Since then, he has reclaimed his identity, and has worked hard to accept that God loves him the way he is, and that it takes faith to overcome any obstacles— faith that he found in the recovery community. Along with faith, he discovered his alter ego, Linda Summers, who has helped him share his painful and most beautiful experiences in drag with the San Francisco community as a form of healing.

Project Overview

The GLIDE Pride Team & GLIDE Memorial Church in presenting the legendary B0NNi33 Vi0L3T in the second installment of her series of talk show style interviews and culminating “Sunday Third Celebration.” Featuring different San Francisco Bay Area drag artists “Drag and Spirituality” starting on July 19th , 2020 and culminated on August 16th , 2020. Interviews took place every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday at 7:11PM PST on GLIDE's Facebook LIVE.

In each episode, Bonnie Violet, a queer chaplain, guides a conversation surrounding Drag and Spirituality, with drag artists of a variety of spiritual experience, gender, age, race, sexual orientation, size, ability, and styles of drag.  Bonnie and GLIDE would like to showcase the intersectionality between drag and spirituality- that neither are mutually exclusive- and to integrate both the individual and the people into ONEness.

In a final performance on August 16th at 3:33 pm PST. Six drag artists share a piece of their spiritual practice in the form of a song, dance, prayer, and other rituals.
