Into the Woods was supposed to be a 2014 holiday darling. It had everything- the perfect cast, the perfect amount of whimsy. But Into the Woods isn't really a family friendly show, even if it is about fairy tale characters. Deep dive with Magnus and John about what went so right (like Chris Pine ripping his shirt on a waterfall) and what went so wrong (too many big stars for an ensemble show? Was it a movie too big to fail? Did adapting it to film force a chance in its 2 act structure?) for Disney with their Into the Woods.

Adaptation, much like art, isn't easy. From wolves with phallic tails to bittersweet definitely not Hollywood like endings to lessons learned from Little Shop of Horrors, Into the Woods is maybe both the best and worst choice for adaptation. Especially for the Disney brand. Kick off Mythic May with some upbeat, nearly frantic, ear worms that will leave you saying The Wood is just Trees- the Trees are just Wood! We promise you won't be left in Agony.
