On December 30th, 2022, I was rushed to the hospital, thinking it was a heart attack at 35 years old. Turns out my heart was inflamed. I spent my new years eve in the hospital and went home on Jan 1, 2023. It was a two-night stay.
The two heart conditions, I currently are named pericarditis and myocarditis. Here is some information on both heart conditions.
Pericarditis is swelling and irritation of the thin, saclike tissue surrounding the heart (pericardium). Pericarditis often causes sharp chest pain. Chest pain occurs when the irritated layers of the pericardium rub against each other. Pericarditis is usually mild and goes away without treatment.
What is myocarditis? Myocarditis is inflammation of your heart muscle (myocardium). This can weaken your heart muscle, making it more difficult for your heart to pump. This rare condition can affect people quickly or slowly over time.
