Description

We all want the truth. We go through every waking minute of every day  making plans and decisions based on our understanding of the truth. But what about conflicting truth claims? How can we sort out which truth  claims are actually true? This episode considers epistemology generally, and how the LDS Church  emphasizes one, somewhat narrow epistemic resource, to the near  exclusion of other such resources. When the religious epistemology  promoted by the LDS Church no longer seems to serve church members well,  they often abandon religion ... and God ... altogether. Caught in the middle of all this are bishops, CES teachers and leaders,  Relief Society officers, stake presidents, and other mid-level church  leaders. When young adults and other church members begin to question  the church's traditional methods of ascertaining truth, the resources  from the LDS Church itself are not always helpful. Everyone is left  somewhat stranded and in need of new ways of figuring out what is true  and what is not true.
