From conflict and forced migration to the erosion of democratic norms, peace today is not a given — it’s something we must continuously build and protect.
We’re joined by Hamid Khallafalah and Valentina Bacchin. Hamid is a democracy and civil resistance activist, who brings deep insight on grassroots movements and political transitions in Africa and special insight into the Sudanese civil war. Hamid is a former fellow of the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP) in the US and was a Young African Leaders’ Fellow at European University Institute.
Valentina is a Fellow at European University Institute, who will share her knowledge and experience in forced migration from her previous roles with UN agencies, international and national NGOs and civil society organisations. She has carried out extensive work on disaster and post-conflict response and the protection of civilians in conflict, and the rights of forcibly displaced people and migrants.
