Gen. 3:20-21
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
As you can see Adam gives her a name but this time it does not have the impact it should have, she is called Eve in ONLY 4 PLACES IN THE BIBLE the rest refer to her as “The Woman or Adam’s wife”
21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
Notice ‘Adam & his Wife” and NOT EVE as was the case before when he named the animals, seems like God does not acknowledge this NAME.
GOD MAKES TUNICS OF SKIN:
-This was a powerful symbolism of God’s Grace covering their shame
-It was a picture of sacrifice, meaning the blood of a lamb had been shed to cover them.
-It was a picture of how Jesus would give his life to restore our relationship with God.
Gen. 3:22
22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever "—
Please DO NOT MISTAKE this as an act of FEAR from god neither is God threatened by this possibility, this is an act of GREAT MERCY.
Paraphrased Now that man his foolishly given himself god-status and finds himself in the most terrible predicament that he could possibly be in with all the torment that comes with it, if i dont intervene and he eats of the TREE OF LIFE this will be his eternal state!
can you even begin to imagine that, this was the first indication of what hell could be like.
Therefore the following action is a redemptive action and NOT a punishment!
Gen. 3:23
23 therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
-He SENT and not CHASED him out of the Garden.
-To TILL the GROUND and NOT to TOIL
-FROM WHICH HE HAD BEEN TAKEN?
I am sure your theology probably places him in a very BARREN PLACE.
They were ONLY removed from the Garden of Eden but NOT from EDEN.
This is a powerful picture that God never removed them to where his love was not available to them, remember Eden means “Pleasure” .
All that He did was to place man where it was HIS RESPONSIBILITY to REACH OUT TO GOD.............
