Our conversation today begins by us seeking the answer to a very profound question that directly impacts on God’s intentions and our destinies within creation
Ps. 8:4-6
4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet,
Ps. 144:3
3 LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him?
Job 7:17
17 "What is man, that You should exalt him, That You should set Your heart on him,
Heb. 2:6-7
6 But one testified in a certain place, saying: "What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him?
7 You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands.
At the very outset we need to resolve a mistranslation that kind of distorts the context of this profound reality.
“You have made him a little lower than the angels”
The word “Angels” here is translated from the word “Elohim” and therefore cannot be properly translated “angels” it would seem the very thought of correctly translating this term was difficult for the translators due to it’s real implications.
