Today we start talking about Prayer.
Prayer is a very huge topic but it can be taken in little bits.
Today we will focus on
~what is prayer?
~why do we pray?
~who do we pray for?
What is prayer?
Prayer is communicating with God through words*. Words could be known and unknown*.
Why do we pray?
We pray because our confidence isn’t in ourselves our know how, strengths or weaknesses or our power but in Him who is greater than us and has the power to do what we can’t do for ourselves.
We pray because we believe God is for us and loves us and has a great purpose for us here on the earth and prayer is one of the ways we initiate these changes. James 5:14-16
We pray because we have been commanded to do so severally in scriptures. 1Thess 5:17 We see from scriptures that men prayed, both in the old times and New Testament. Jesus prayed and said men ought always to pray and not give up, Paul prayed, the disciples prayed Acts 7 they gave themselves over to prayer and the word, and many other numerous examples of praying believers.
We pray because it is a necessity for the believer! Prayer and the Studying the Word of God should go hand in hand.
Who do we pray for?
Jesus prayed so ought we also to pray, he prayed for the sick, blind, lame, deaf, demon possessed and oppressed, the dead. He also prayed for his disciples and those who will come to believe in him John 17. We are to pray not just for ourselves only but for the sick, the Church the body of Christ, church leaders pastors, evangelists, missionaries, for other believers and those hurting in many ways, for the plans of God on the earth also.
