Ms. Applegate is the director of the Equitas Health Institute where she leads LGBTQ+ health education and research efforts to improve the health and wellness of LGBTQ+ communities across Ohio. In this interview, Ms. Applegate discusses her research and initiatives focusing on specific health risks and healthcare experiences of sexual/gender minority populations. We learn how identity relates to healthcare, and how individual and systemic treatment discrepancies affect quality of healthcare within the LGBTQ+ population.
