Description

You wake up hoping for a great day, and it fails your expectations. You go home and say tomorrow will be better. The next morning you wake up and do the same thing. You don't get much done at work like you hoped, your workout was lackluster, and your friend who said they would call never did. On the third day, you wake up in a bad mood and expect a crappy day. Why would today be good when the last three have felt so bad?

However, if you were to look at your life from a third-person perspective, you would see no reason for anything to be making the person feel such a way. Each day was relatively normal. On the days expected to be great, nothing happened to make them bad. On the third day, their boss actually complimented them, and their coworker said they loved their outfit. While they didn't have a killer workout, they hit all their weights and times. Yet, mentally that was not the case... Mentally their emotions told them a very different story.

Our emotions take us out of the moment and distort reality from what it really is. Clouding our judgment and ability to see the world as it is. Often times this makes things seem better than they are, or, what we mainly remember, worse than what is really going on. Being present allows us to see our emotions and thoughts for what they are. Just thoughts and emotions. Not determining factors in reality unless we choose to make them so.
