Description

For Chris and Sylvie's continued exploration of the National Film Board archives, we decided to commemorate the 95th Academy Awards with a double-stuffed Oscar special! Three nominated or winning films from the NFB's extensive archives and the currently nominated short film The Flying Sailor. From a darkly comic midlife crisis, to an psychedelic appreciation of the abstract beauty of a walk cycle, to a breakneck series of bits on world history, and finally a glorious meditation on the fragile beauty of life in the wake of a national tragedy. We know the Oscars have never cared about animation as a medium, but that doesn't mean we don't!

Films covered are:

Bob's Birthday (1993). Directed by Alison Snowden and David Fine.
