In this episode of Pleasure Starters, a podcast miniseries inviting you to tangibly create more pleasure in your life through pondering my questions, I ask: where are you downplaying yourself?

Especially when we are unlearning, we can tend to overlook the areas we already are good at or like about ourselves and start to view them differently. For example, you take pride in your appearance but begin to second guess because you don't know if it's something you actually like or it's a result of patriarchal conditioning. You end up downplaying your skills and interests which does not serve you in your pursuit of prioritizing pleasure at all.

The truth is, we'll never be able to completely discern between our innate desires and desires that result from conditioning we've received. No matter how hard we work, we can't completely detach from the conditioning we've received. However, we get to choose what we believe now and what we make those beliefs mean. 

This question is designed for you to look at the areas of your life where you've pulled back or don't take full ownership of where you're already amazing or are doing the things you really like.  It highlights the areas where your brain believed it was a good idea to downplay and allows you to choose how you want to approach those areas on purpose. This question can transform how you relate to yourself and how you show up for yourself.
