Danielle Rocco is peer in Veterans' Advocacy. She has been on Oscar Mike Radio as a guest, and we have co-hosted events together. We had talked about doing a live interview event at the Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike in Milford, MA on December 2020. I was going to meet her son Jake who served in the Marine Corps and have him on Oscar Mike Radio.
Well thanks to COVID-19, we couldn't meet in person. We decided to do the show over Zoom and had a great time. I wanted Jake to help me tell you all about how the holidays and Christmas can be while serving in the military.
Jake and I served in different times and eras in the Marine Corps, but we had similar experiences with regards to being away from family for the holidays. It was great getting to hear about his experiences, and share that bond the Marines have.
I think watching Danielle listening to us talk was a real bonus for this show. Also, it was great to hear her talk like a mom about being a peace with her son serving. Christmas means a lot of things to people, and talking to Jake and Danielle helped get me off to a good start for Christmas 2020.
