Islam has been around for almost 1500 years. It's founder was Mohammad who sought refuge in a city of 3 Jewish tribes, Medina; after his group of marauders were defeated and chased there. He raised a new band of followers by starting this religion and promising them the right to enslave any women they captured and great wealth if they followed him...and his new religion. He also promised them that they would go to heaven if they died in combat for him and would have endless pleasure with 72 virgins.
Of course, this gained him a large following of able men who then turned against their saviors, the Jews, and murdered them and took the city from them.
Don't forget about his child bride who he raped at age 9.
