February is Black History Month, an important and special season but one that can be viewed with suspicion or cynicism. Across racial lines, this month can have complicated perceptions. It is also often commodified by corporations and organizations in ways that can feel performative and hollow. So today we want to dig into the good intent of what Black History Month is about, the hard but powerful opportunity it creates for all of us, and the biblical basis for telling complicated stories with remembrance and hope.
