We’re thrilled to welcome a very special guest to the podcast, New York Times Best Selling author, Cole Arthur Riley. Cole’s work in the last 2 years through her Instagram account @blackliturgies, her online writing, and her recent book “This Here Flesh: Spirituality, Liberation, and the Stories that make us” have been such a powerful voice.
The three of us dig in to the story of the Woman at the Well. We look at Jesus’s invitation to belonging and question traditional narratives about this woman. We explore her storytelling as an act of liberation and how the narrative of her story continues in church history (did you know she has a name and a feast day?!).
If you’re new to Excavate, our typical format is to discuss one or more passages of the Bible and what it reveals about the story and role of women in Christianity and in the world. We hope today’s episode resonated with you and we invite you to keep digging in with us as we uncover our place in God’s story
