The Peabody String Sinfonia is a student-led, conductor-less string orchestra whose mission is to bring healing and beauty to people in our Baltimore community who are in challenging situations or in places where they cannot easily gain access to live music, including cancer treatment, incarceration, and homelessness, hospitalization, addiction, and hunger. Our members are students and alumni of the Peabody Conservatory of Music who volunteer their time for this project. We value connection and kinship most of all. We bring music where life is and our audience members bring life to the ensemble. This is a chance for students to experience connection with each other and our audiences and to enhance our appreciation of what it means to be a musician in the larger world beyond the conservatory and concert hall. The Peabody String Sinfonia is truly all about the music and our focus is on bringing the most beautiful string ensemble repertoire, prepared and performed at the highest level, to these communities.
