“Forgiveness”
@nonperishablegoods podcast episode #71
As believers we are called to forgive people just as God forgives us. In the Bible we are asked to forgive people 70x7 times. That’s 490 times. This scripture always made me ponder that clearly people are constantly offending, and we are to give people this many chances? Forgiveness isn’t weakness. It actually shows strength, agape love, compassion, maturity and even qualities of true leadership. We are all imperfect people, and we should posture as such with humility and be open to receive correction. At this point in my life, I understand forgiveness is key to peace and a healthy well being. Cutting people off, revenge, bitterness, resentment, anger and all harmful emotions will burden your spirit and keep you in a place of literal or mental isolation. We weren’t made to live this life alone. However, forgiveness doesn’t mean you allow people to hurt or play with you, but it requires boundaries to protect you and repentance (change of behavior) of others to hold space in your life.
