Bret Marshall Spears is a proud son of Kentucky who once turned down a kiss from the local Homecoming Queen. *Bret did not specify whether this was last year or 30 years ago.
Wearing #6 for the Tulsa Rumblers, he can be found on the mound, at short or up the middle in center field. The Rumblers take inspiration from none other than S.E. Hinton, local Oklahoma author of The Outsiders and Rumble Fish. No stranger to community service, Bret was instrumental in organizing the Rumblers and local minor league team the Tulsa Drillers in bringing Historic Lacy Park back to former greatness. The local ballpark is ripe with history and served as the former home of Tulsa’s Negro League team, the T-Town Clowns.
A former Philosophy Professor, Bret’s poetic ideology on life, sandlot baseball, and whiskey are things of legend. His passion and dedication to the game led him to the position of Brand Developer for the Pillbox Bat Co. where he cultivates partnerships including but not limited to sandlot baseball. Bret also organized the first sandlot round-robin at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, IA in 2021 and is re-doubling his efforts in 2022.
