Description

Raised near Philadelphia Keith Hyndshaw headed south to graduate from Florida State University where a 20-year teaching career began in Lake County, Florida. He taught language arts and social studies at the middle school level for 15 years before moving over to become a high school educator. Keith was named Lake County’s Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 2010 and Lake County’s High School Teacher of the Year in 2014. He also served on the state of Florida’s African American History Task Force.

Keith now trains teachers but has remained a lifelong student of history and baseball. Formerly of the Austin Switch, in 2022 Keith helped form the Austin Drag with a focus on diversity and the LGBTQ+ participation. He can oft be found on the mound striking batters out or working on his personal drag bunting skills. Keith remains active in the LGBTQ+, Sandlot and Education communities. He is an educator, historian, athlete and self-proclaimed baseball geek but do not let the humble pie fool you, he's referred to as Kool Keith Hyndshaw for a reason.
