LISTENER ADVISORIES: STRONG LANGUAGE; DEPRESSION; SUICIDE
Prince Endymion Ilan Amor thought everything would get better when the vampire species stepped out of the darkness. They revealed themselves to the world just in time to finalize their purchase of the state of Oregon. And for most of his species, it did get better. The former state became the Kingdom of Sidrea and vampires were finally free to stop hiding. But for Endymion, the only thing that changes is his address. The King’s memory is still faltering, his father still does everything he can to avoid coming home, and his favorite cousin Aldis is still too busy being the heir to spend time with him. All he wants is to move back to New York where at least every move he makes doesn’t make the front page.
When his cousin Aldis asks him to babysit a human, he wants to say no. Bringing a bloodbag into a vampire-only school is just asking for trouble. He might not like the human but he doesn’t need to see him get eaten. Still, he can’t turn down the job when it means he’ll finally get his hands on a car and he’ll be one step closer to New York. But the more time he spends escorting the human, a teenage boy named Kaelin who keeps showing up with unexplainable bruises, to and from school, the more distant his plans to leave become. Then, he finds himself having to bring the human into his own home and his plan to keep Kaelin at a distance crumbles.
Can he let go of his dreams of moving to New York and make himself a home in Sidrea, or will his fears prove too big to overcome?
