Epictetus told us that authentic happiness is always independent of external conditions, and its something very important we need to remember in this life. Placing our happiness in external conditions and things sets us up for disappoint because these things can disappear at any moment. However, finding authentic happiness within will guarantee that it stays with you your entire life, and is a result of learning who you are - inside and out.
