Guest Bio- Zak Sandler is a mental health advocate with a musical twist, inspiring audiences, big and small, with his theatrical work. Zak plays piano on Broadway for WICKED, and has played on Broadway for MOTOWN, MEAN GIRLS and THE COLOR PURPLE. He was a composer at the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project at Northwestern, and won the Fenno Heath Award for writing a new Yale song. His work has appeared at Lincoln Center, Joe’s Pub, and Signature Theater in DC. Zak is a featured speaker with This Is My Brave and the JED Foundation, and in 2018, he won the Young Leader Award from NAMI New York State. His original musical about bipolar, INSIDE MY HEAD. Zak is also creating a docuseries that highlights the link between creativity and mental conditions, called “Insanely Talented”. He believes that being open about his own condition is the best way to destigmatize it.
