Description

In this episode I interview former Irish international athlete, David Gillick, who helped to push the boundaries of sprinting. Renowned for his many athletic achievements including two European Championships & a 6th place finish in the World Championships, David had a very successful career as an athlete. When he was forced to retire due to injury, David’s world changed completely. From having strict daily routines and a strong sense of purpose, David was faced with a difficult period of uncertainty which left him battling with depression and binge eating. In this episode, David shares the difficult journey he has been on and how he managed to get “Back on Track”, which happens to be the title of his latest cookbook/ lifestyle book which explores four pillars: eating, moving, thinking and resting. David shares with me the useful tools and strategies in each of these areas that he now incorporates into his life since he began making his mental health, as well as his physical health, a priority. His story is fascinating and a great example of how we can overcome adversity and challenging times if we are willing to open up and ask for help. You can find David on Instagram @davidgillick and his new website will be launching shortly.
