Description

Welcome to the first episode of Procrasturbation Station’s podcasting series. In this episode, we discuss the first steps to starting your podcast. Our subtopics include choosing a name and logo, understanding your audience, selecting a category, picking music, researching competition, and reverse engineering your value proposition.

Choosing a name and logo can be daunting, but it's not the most important step when starting out. Your name and logo should be memorable, catchy, and easy to recognize. I recommend considering descriptive words or phrases that convey the tone or theme of your podcast, or using a clever pun or play on words to create a unique and attention-grabbing name.

Understanding your audience is crucial in developing your content ideas and descriptions. While it's important to tailor the meat of your content towards your listeners, I believe in targeting lookalike audiences, who have overlapping problems and concerns to people whose lives look completely different to our own.

When selecting a category for your podcast, think about what type of content you want to create and who your target audience is. Choose a category that aligns with your goals and interests, and also consider whether it will appeal to your audience.

For selecting music, you should consider the tone and vibe of your show but be aware that music can be expensive. Look for license-free music that you can use legally without infringing on anyone's copyright. Check out this link to a platform you can use to acquire free music (https://www.epidemicsound.com/)
