When people ask my how the nervous system is related to our gut and nutrition I always reflect back, how is it not? It is a two way street where one affects the other.
That is why today we are going to learn about the gut, or the Enteric Nervous System. Gut health is a HUGE topic that could be a podcast show of it's own. So when I sat down to review notes and decide what exactly to share, I decided to keep the information directly related to the nervous system itself and gut health.
Which is still leaving you with heaps of information! This episode includes:
⭐️ A review of interoception (listen to episode 13)
⭐️ How the vagus nerve is related to gut health
⭐️ The relationship to social development and gut health (episode 14)
⭐️ Why a healthy gut means you have easier decision making
⭐️ Microbiome and why who you hang out with affects you gut healtg
⭐️ Why nervous system regulation and ability to shift your states dictates your gut health
Personally I have found the more I have learned about my nervous system and did a deep dive in my own trauma resolution, the more my guts healed. The more my guts healed and regulated my nervous system was, the more I wanted to eat better and take care of my guts and my health. The more I continued to take care of my nutritional needs, the more my nervous system regulated. It creased a positive feedback loop all on it's own.
Future podcast will dive into nutrients itself but first, let's start with the foundation.
