There have been many successes for women in sport in the last couple of months. This success, notoriety and the subsequent media attention has attracted criticism – with some believing men are having resources pulled to give women an unfair advantage.
In the second in our guest host series we were super lucky to speak with GB Olympic weightlifter Michaela Breeze about what it's like to be an athlete at the top of your game in a male dominated sport.
Breeze is one of the most successful female weightlifters in UK history. As well as coaching lifters of all sizes, shapes and ages, she is well known for commentating at various events including Rio Olympics and Tokyo Olympics and is currently training for the IWF World Masters Championships later this year. What's more, Breeze is a proud mum of three!
This episode builds on our equality in sport episode (Ep.8) and follows Breeze's experiences of men reacting to her success, how she continues to overcome criticism and what tips she has about learning from and supporting others in sport.
We hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did!
