Who is responsible for staff wellbeing? Is someone specifically responsible? Does it fall to one person or one team e.g the leadership team? Should we nominate a wellbeing leader to be responsible? Does the responsibility sit with HR? Is it up to the individual alone?
Responsibility could belong to any or all of the above, and whilst elements or part of the responsibility may sit with one person or a team, it isn’t that simple. We shouldn’t be looking to nominate one person or team to take full responsibility for staff wellbeing, because, truth is, everyone is responsible.
As we discovered in last fortnight’s article What is wellbeing? (if you didn’t catch it, read it here), staff wellbeing includes both everyday and workplace wellbeing. With this in mind, and knowing that these areas overlap both personally and professionally, the need for individual and collective responsibility comes into play.
