MOTHER OF CHEROKEE PAINTING
Owen taught music at Cherokee Female Seminary until she discovered the love of painting at age 62. Her most famous painting of Sequoyah is the one most people remember. Her "Thomas Jefferson and His Descendants" won a medal at the 1904 St. Louis Exposition.
