WORKING WOMEN OF WORLD WAR I
Just like the Rosie the Riveters in World War II, women worked in male-dominant jobs during the First World War. Jennie Weatherford began work in 1918 at the Muskogee Garage as the first woman automobile mechanic. Stella Pierce became the first woman to pass the civil service exam to become rural mail carrier.
