Do you realize the thing you put your identity in, if it’s a worldly thing, can be taken away at any moment? If or rather when it does, who are you?
Identity is
- the qualities, beliefs, personality, looks and/or expressions that make a person; self-image.
- who you are, the way you think about yourself, the way you are viewed by the world and the characteristics that define you.
Ask yourself these questions:
- How do I view myself?
- How am I perceived by the world?
- What are my characteristics and traits?
- Who does God say that I am?
- You are made in his image
- Genesis 1:27 "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
- You are co-heir with Christ
- Romans 8:17 "Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory."
- You are fearfully and wonderfully made
- Ps 139:14 "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Take time to sit and think about these questions. Write down your answers.
