Hebrews 9:1-14 | An Anchor for the Soul | Trent Hunter
What is keeping you from closeness to God? Whatever that may be it is the same thing that may lead you to drift from him and ultimately turn against him. You might be thinking of particular sins in the past or a current struggle. Or perhaps even the fact that we are here on earth in the midst of so much evil all around. Those are no small matters. But they are not too big for Christ's priestly work which purifies our conscience for service to the living God. The author of Hebrews has made a compelling case from Scripture for the new covenant, its necessity and its inevitability. Now, our author turns to examine the ways in which the new covenant is better. We need more than to know that we need Christ's high priestly work but to know the precise ways in which it is sufficient, effective, and magnificent.
