With nearly a decade of experience in the field, Woods has a master's degree in kinesiology and a bachelor's in exercise science along with being a certified strength & conditioning specialist.
Woods comes to the Dolphins from the Minnesota Vikings serving as the lead role for Sports Science as well as Howard University where he was the Director of Strength & Conditioning and Sports Science since January 2021. He oversaw the HU Sports Performance department for 21 varsity sports and it was his fourth collegiate position in strength and conditioning.
Prior to Howard, Woods worked as a Head Strength and Conditioning coach with the United States Army's 1AD Combat Aviation Brigade in El Paso, establishing the unit as the top combat fitness testing brigade in the Army. During the 2020 XFL season, Woods worked as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach with the Tampa Bay Vipers. Woods gained practical team-based experience at UNC-Charlotte, helping the 49ers to the first winning football season in program history and becoming bowl-eligible. As Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at North Texas for 3 football seasons, Woods helped the Mean Green to bowl berths each season, an appearance in the school's 1st Conference USA title game and back-to back 9-win seasons (9-5 in 2017, 9-4 in 2018).
Woods spent 2015 and 2016 at Southern Mississippi where he assisted on the strength and conditioning staff while completing coursework for a Master's of Science in kinesiology, working closely with the football and baseball program.
Following his undergrad degree at South Carolina in exercise science, Woods interned first with EXOS Athletes Performance Institute and then spent the 2014 season with the staff of the Miami Dolphins.
Woods played football at South Carolina State before transferring to his final 2 seasons (2011-12) at South Carolina, playing for legendary coach Steve Spurrier. A native of Gaffney, SC, Woods shares an alma mater with former Vikings WR Sidney Rice. Woods has daughters, Alyse and Ariah.
