Description

    Richard Shaughnessy enters his 26th season as Director of Strength and Conditioning Coach for all 17 intercollegiate athletic teams at Troy University. Shaughnessy has been instrumental in developing stronger, faster and more durable athletes. He has been recognized for his professional achievements and accomplishments as a full-time strength and conditioning coach and his contributions to the profession.

    Furthermore, he has had over 160 student-athletes in NFL and CFL camps. Shaughnessy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Performance from Auburn University in 1989. After receiving his degree, he spent several years in the Dothan City School system before moving onto the Early County in Blakely, Georgia. His work ethic and accomplishments at the high school level brought attention to Head Coach Larry Blakeney. Shaughnessy was given the opportunity to become the first strength coach for Troy University. During his time a Troy University, he has received his Master’s degree in Education in 1998 and his Education Specialist in 2000.
