On this episode of the Film Sessions Podcast, we are excited to feature Dai Varela:

“Dai Varela (Odair Varela Rodrigues), born in Mindelo, Cape Verde, is a writer, imaginarium manager, cultural producer, and journalist. He is the author of the books ""A fita cor-de-rosa"" (2013) and two works from the series ""Tufas, Creole Princess"" (2017, 2019), as well as participating in anthologies. He received an Honorable Mention in Portugal in 2013 and recognition from the Ministry of Culture of Cape Verde.

Selected by The Tony Elumelu Foundation program in Nigeria in 2017, he was part of the jury for the Launch Contest of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Program in 2021.

He is currently the manager of BDPALOP in Cape Verde, an initiative to promote comic books in the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP), and coordinates the African Artists for Peace Initiative in Cape Verde. In charge of the production company JOVEMTUDO, he recently produced the animated film ""A fita cor-de-rosa"" which has received three distinctions at international film festivals.”
