On this episode of the Film Sessions Podcast, we are excited to feature Krystell Susana Santiago Estrella:
“Hello everyone! 👋😄 My name is Krystell Susana Santiago Estrella, and I'm from the Island of Enchantment, Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷 I'm also half-Dominican! 🇩🇴 I'm currently a sophomore at Columbia University in the City of New York studying Biomedical Engineering and Applied Physics along with minors in Hispanic Studies and Chemical Engineering. At the same time, I'm pursuing my artistic career in music and now in filmmaking. Starting out in the field of the arts with music, I began falling in love with different disciplines ranging from singing to cinematography.
My journey as a filmmaker is one that was born out of my genuine passion for story-telling. The stories I like to focus on are those that haven't been told before and deserve to be in the spotlight. I discovered my love for filmmaking through a class I took last year in Columbia in which I had the opportunity to do a project about a historical event of modern Latin America. Suddenly, inspiration struck me to do a short film about 4 pivotal characters of the Cuban Revolution and how their intimate/personal lives and events affected the history of Cuba forever. This is how the award-winning "Post Meridiem (In Full Color)" was born. I can't wait to keep exploring this beautiful field of expression and art. More projects are in the making. Stay tuned! :))”
