Fred Rutman, aka “Repeatedly Dead Fred,” started his career as a marketer and consultant before transitioning to academia as a college professor. He taught MBA and Marketing and Finance courses for several years. But his health began to suffer. His weight jumped to over 340 pounds. He took various steps to improve his health and weight, such as rigorous exercise and seeking advice from a bariatric doctor. However, he chose not to undergo surgery. Fred eventually lowered his weight to about 280 pounds. Then, in the summer of 2009, his health deteriorated significantly, leading to his need for
permanent medical leave. His heart frequently stopped, leading to him being pronounced clinically dead dozens of times. Each time his heart stopped, he collapsed, leading to multiple concussions from hitting his head. Fortunately,
Fred began recovering from his health challenges and shares his inspiring story of resilience and recovery with audiences worldwide.
