Ed Wiens has had a varied career. For almost forty years, he has worked with non-profit organizations, pastoral ministry in the Christian church, social service administrator, development director, etc. Today, Ed is a star player in the network marketing industry. Ed says that the idea of being compensated based on his ability always appealed to him. As a 10-year-old boy, Ed worked in the family side business of selling boiled crabs. His father would catch the crabs and his mother would boil them, Ed said. He was the salesman, and he went door-to-door selling boiled crabs in an Alaskan fishing village for 35 cents each. Ed also sold newspapers on street corners, so, in a way, sharing products was a way of life for him for a long time. Ed learned about network marketing from a family friend. He learned that companies paid representatives to sell their products; then, they allowed these associates to recruit others to sell their products, and the recruiter shared in the production of their sales team. Ed was hooked: “You’ve got to be kidding me,” he exclaimed. “What a concept!” And Edward Weins has been a network marketing professional for forty years. Ed joins me to share what he has learned from the industry that has given him time freedom and financial freedom.
