Dr. Melissa Sundermann is a double-boarded physician in Internal Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. She has practiced medicine for over 20 years and has a sub-specialty in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Sundermann also completed training in mind-body medicine at the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, DC. She has been featured in several Lifestyle Medicine articles and regularly appears on podcast shows. She is highly regarded as a health educator, and speaker
at national health and medical conferences. She believes in fostering a
partnership with her patients and guiding them to practice self-care on their healing journey. She believes the 7 pillars of health in Lifestyle Medicine are fundamental to maintaining good health and facilitating recovery from an illness. These pillars include a “wholefood plant-slant” nutrition program, daily movement, restorative sleep, avoidance of risky behaviors (tobacco, excessive alcohol, and drugs), stress management, social connection, and daily exposure to nature. Widely recognized as “Doctor Outdoors,” Dr. Sundermann Chairs the Nature as Medicine committee for the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
