Samantha Wyland had a long career as a ballet dancer. She began experiencing irritable bowel syndrome in her mid-thirties, which forced her to give up dancing. As she puts it, “I had some crazy” digestive symptoms that had me “down and out for more than ten years, literally.” One doctor was dismayed as she became non-functional: “Your body is going through some changes. It doesn’t like you very much right now.” Samantha searched everywhere for a pill or specialist to help her resolve the issues she was experiencing in her gut. She hit rock bottom; at her wit’s end, she started doing her own research into chronic digestive conditions. She also enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and became certified in the field. She maintains the quality of life she once dreamed about. Armed with knowledge and experience, she is on a mission to educate patients and doctors about the root cause of irritable
bowel syndrome. Samantha is now dedicated to helping others whose careers, family time, and social interactions are limited due to their fear and shame around their chronic digestive disorders.
