Dr. Shaun Nelms, Vice President of Community Partnerships at the University of Rochester, is
joined by Corey Nichols-Hadeed, JD, and Jennifer West, PhD, Co-Directors of the Firearm
Injury Prevention Program. Together, they will discuss the critical issue of firearm injury
prevention. Did you know that firearm-related incidents are the leading cause of death among
children in New York State and across the nation, as well as one of the top causes of injury-
related deaths among adults? During this conversation, they will address common
misconceptions about firearm injuries and provide strategies for preventing them. Additionally,
they will share resources on safe firearm storage and other safety measures to help protect our
communities.
