From self-sufficiency to selflessness.
Gary Cooper was what many in the business world would call, "highly successful". As founder and CEO of Palmetto Infusions, he moved this private health care company from 40 million to 600 million in revenue in just 4 yrs.
However, despite his entrepreneurial strength Gary had also experienced back surgery as well as 3 hip replacements and had turned to alcohol and performance addictions to numb the physical and emotional pain he was experiencing. He describes the 180 degree pivotal turn he made about 6 years ago as life-changing and saving. Since then, he has a completely different perspective of what 'success' actually is.
Part of Gary's transformation consisted of him handing over the title of CEO to his own company to someone else as well as remaining silent in meetings for an extended period of time. I had the opportunity of sitting down with Gary and unpacking some of the other elements of his transformation as well as some new habits/disciplines that Gary now holds dearly that are keeping him healthy as a leader.
Gary currently serves as Chairman of Palmetto Infusion | CEO & Founder of The Carolus Company and author of the soon-to-be-released book, "The Success Paradox"
