Description

Owen and Mike share their thoughts on Adolescence and Jess decides whether to watch it based on our reviews. This a special episode for a very special mini series. More on Adolescence

Adolescence is a 2025 British crime drama television mini-series created by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham and directed by Philip Barantini. It centres on a 13-year-old schoolboy named Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) who is arrested for the murder of a girl in his school. Each of its four episodes was shot in one continuous take.

The mini-series premiered on Netflix on 13 March 2025, to critical acclaim for its directing, writing, and cinematography, with special attention paid to its atmosphere and performances.

It's now been confirmed that Adolescence racked up 66.3 million views in two weeks, which is the most ever for a limited series on the platform. A show like Queen's Gambit went on to have exceptionally high viewership in the long term, but Adolescence has beat its pace in the first two weeks here.

Plot Summary,

In an English town, armed police raid a family home and arrest Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy, on suspicion of murder of a classmate, Katie Leonard. Jamie is processed and held at a police station for questioning, and then remanded in custody at a secure training centre. Investigations at Jamie's school, and interviews by a forensic psychologist, reveal that Jamie has been chronically bullied via social media. Other students, including Katie, had targeted him on Instagram, calling Jamie ugly and labelling him an incel. Jamie has come to internalise these things, and lashes out when this worldview is questioned. At home, Jamie's family deals with the community's backlash against them as they work together to cope with Jamie's arrest and subsequent detention.
