Black lives matter.
We truly believe that.
And amongst a movement that seeks justice for police brutality, especially against the black & brown communities, one that purportedly stands as a peaceful movement, we see so much pressure on social media to stand up, to speak out, to show off your ally-ship to the web-based collective. And if you aren't vocal about your contribution to the cause, apparently that means you side with them, with the oppressor.
Like, what??
Let's not further the division They want between us by shaming each other for processing this intense moment in history in our own ways, in our own time, at our own volume.
The best way through this, through all of the confuckery of 2020, is with love.
Stand up & speak out if you wish. Or maybe your way of supporting our communities of color is to silently donate to the cause, or purchase from POC-owned small businesses, or signing petitions, or having hard conversations. If racism is hate, then let's refute the hate with love.
The way forward, the way to rebuild, the way to dismantle the systemic racism, the way to show minorities that we are on their side is to love them, to support them, to make space for them. Love on the people of color in your life. It's as simple as that.
We love you all. Stay safe, & spark one up for love.
