In John 11, Caiaphas the High Priest unknowingly prophesied about Jesus that it was better for Jesus to die than for the whole nation to perish. John used this statement to show how God was using the cross to call all of his scattered children home. It is a reminder that God is building a big family through the cross -- a blood family that is united by the blood of Jesus.
